Today I had the carpet installed in the basement bedroom. I then installed the bedroom and closet doors, and finished all the trim work in both rooms. I installed and wired in the baseboard heater in the bedroom. The only other job I will do this year is peel more of the posts for the inside handrails. It's time to call it a year!

September 2016 Basement main area ceiling installation
With the extra 1x8" tongue and groove pine left over from the basement bedroom and closet ceiling installation, I decided to begin installing the ceiling in the main part of the basement. Leaving the lumber sitting on the floor over the winter, I run the risk of warpage. I purchased two bundles of R38 insulation for the ceiling and installed the majority of the lumber I had left over. I installed as much of the trim as I could.
September 2016 Remodeled basement stairway landing
I remodeled the basement stairway landing area which supports the main floor stairway going to the loft. The clearances were to small and it did not look right. I sandwiched the two TGIs on both sides with 2 x 10s, using construction adhesive and carriage bolts. I then built a header out of two 2x12s
and using hangers, attached them to the two sandwiched TGIs. I attached the TGIs that met this header with TGI hangers. Now the ceiling is flush again. One end is supported by the basement wall system, the other end by two treated 4x4s.
